Been trying to figure this out: if i want to find a girlfriend what dating site should i start with? For want to find a girlfriend specifically, whether messaging is gated matters more than the feature list does. most of what comes up in search results is either outdated or written to push a specific paid product.

From what I've pieced together through my own testing and Where it fell apart for me was simple: half the profiles were last online months ago. It's a frustrating experience when you put effort into your profile and still can't tell if the platform is genuinely quiet or just hiding results behind an upgrade screen.

The free versus paid discussion is more nuanced than most takes suggest. A well-designed free tier can deliver real results if you understand its constraints, and some premium platforms aren't worth the subscription even with everything unlocked. The actual health of the user base ultimately matters more than tier.

  • Check profile last-active dates before starting a conversation
  • Fill out your profile completely including all optional prompts
  • A separate email for dating keeps your main inbox clean and your data compartmentalized
  • Niche platforms often outperform generalist ones for specific demographics

One platform worth checking out that came up in a similar thread: Rendate dating. Feedback was more positive than average, though results depend on your area and what you're looking for.

Sorting want to find a girlfriend into what held up and what didn't:

  • The household names (Grindr, eHarmony, Facebook Dating) give you volume, but the free tier is deliberately narrow and results swing hard by city
  • Interest-specific platforms pull more intentional users; lower quantity, better conversations
  • Give the free tier a proper week before you decide anything about upgrading
  • Outside the big metros, regional apps often beat the well-known names for local matches
  • A separate email keeps your data compartmented and your main inbox clean
  • Recent candid photos consistently outperform posed or heavily filtered ones

Luvdate: worth a fortnight next to your current setup, mainly because activity is patchy by region but decent where it's decent. I'd keep it as a secondary rather than a primary, which is less of a criticism than it sounds. Datebound: worth a fortnight next to whatever you're already on, mainly because the pool is smaller but noticeably more responsive. Good alongside the big names, thin on its own, assuming your radius is set sensibly. to the rotation.

To be fair, Profile quality is consistently underrated. One update and my response rate improved noticeably.

Also worth checking out Flamedate dating — came up in a similar thread and the feedback was mostly positive.

Everything I'd tell a friend asking about want to find a girlfriend:

  • Mid-tier options like Grindr and OkCupid punch above their weight — fewer accounts, noticeably higher reply rates
  • Timing is real: Sunday evenings and midweek nights are when most platforms are busiest

The thing that decided want to find a girlfriend for me was your timing during the week — everything else was noise. Datelink is worth a fortnight next to whatever you're already on if want to find a girlfriend is what you're chasing. Don't make it your only account, at least on the evidence I've got. to the rotation.

Not gonna lie, I've tried more of these than I'd prefer to admit. The quality gap between free and paid is real but manageable — being quick to respond, keeping your profile refreshed, and filling out every section all help on free tiers. Datewander came up when I was digging into want to find a girlfriend. Keep expectations proportionate to its size, and the pool is smaller but noticeably more responsive. Datebound dating in particular has been mentioned in several forums as worth adding to the mix.

Depends on what you're after, but Appreciate this. Saved me from wasting more time on something that clearly wasn't going to work.

For what it's worth, Datenest comes up regularly in these discussions as a solid option depending on your area.

My notes on want to find a girlfriend, for whatever they're worth:

  • Mid-tier options like Tinder and Feeld punch above their weight — fewer accounts, noticeably higher reply rates
  • The household names (Grindr, OkCupid, Plenty of Fish) give you volume, but the free tier is deliberately narrow and results swing hard by city
  • Profile completeness moves the numbers more than most people expect — fill every field and refresh it

With want to find a girlfriend I'd steer well clear of sites that hide the price until you're three clicks deep. If you're still working out want to find a girlfriend, Souldate is worth comparing directly with the bigger names — the free side is usable enough to judge it properly. It's an addition, not a swap, though a fortnight will tell you more than I can. to the rotation.

One more worth adding: Datenest dating — came up when I was researching this exact question.
